Laboratory of X-Ray and Microscopic Studies of Mineral Matter (X-RayLab)

Electron probe microanalyzer REMMA-202M

Modern version of the REMMA-202M (РЕММА-202М) instrument from SELMI, which combines the functions of a scanning electron microscope and an electron probe microanalyzer (SEM+EPMA), is used. The instrument is completely modernized in X-RayLab and equipped with energy-dispersive spectrometer (EDS) from Link Systems, two wavelength-dispersive spectrometers (WDS) and original analytical software.

SEM+EPMA is a tool for obtaining scanning electron microscopic (SEM) images with mapping the topography and surface composition, as well as for non-destructive quantitative element analysis of small volumes (10-30 µm3) of solid samples (EPMA). It provides local (micron-scale analytical spot) in situ determination of the content of elements from Na (Z=11) to U (Z=92) in minerals and other natural/man-made objects.

Detection limit of element analysis (DL): 0,0n-0,n wt%.

Range of detectable concentrations: DL-100 wt%.

Analytical error: less than n-10 rel% for concentrations above 10×DL level.

Fields of use: geology, mining industry, ore processing, metallurgy, various expertise (criminalistic, customs, etc.), archeology, chemistry, physics, microelectronics and other branches of science and technology.

Multichannel wavelength-dispersive X-ray spectrometers SRM-25 (2 ones)

SRM-25 (СРМ-25) spectrometer with 16 fixed channels is designed for wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WDXRF) determination of the major elements/components (SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3total/FeOtotal, MnO, MgO, CaO, Na2O, K2O, P2O5, S, Cl, F, LOI, etc.) content in whole-rock (whole-ore) powder samples. The use of both spectrometers makes it possible to analyze large batches of samples in a reasonable time.

Detection limit of element analysis (DL): 0,00n-0,n wt%.

Range of detectable concentrations: DL-100 wt%.

Analytical error: less than n-10 rel% for concentrations above 10×DL level.

Fields of use: geology, mining industry, ore processing, metallurgy, various expertise (criminalistic, customs, etc.), environmental monitoring, archeology, chemistry, physics and other branches of science and technology.

Energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometers SER-01 (ElvaX-Mini and ElvaX-Light)

SER-01 (СЕР-01) energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometers in both ElvaX-mini and ElvaX-light versions from Elvatech Ltd are used as laboratory research instruments for the qualitative and quantitative element analysis of liquid samples, as well as uncrushed and crushed solid ones (powder samples, granulometric and mineralogical fractions, etc.). They are widely used for rapid quantitative determination of the trace elements (Cu, Zn, Ga, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Pb, Th, U, etc.) content in large batches of powder samples (whole-rock/whole-ore analysis) in geochemical and environmental studies. The ElvaX-Mini version provides analysis of chemical elements from Ni to U (Z=28-92) and ElvaX-Light one also provides the ability to analyze light elements starting from Na (Z=11).

Detection limit of element analysis (DL): 0,000n-0,01 wt% (n-100 ppm).

Range of detectable concentrations: DL-100 wt%.

Analytical error: less than 10-15 rel% for concentrations above 10×DL level.

Fields of use: geology, mining industry, ore processing, metallurgy, various expertise (criminalistic, customs, etc.), environmental monitoring, archeology, chemistry, and other branches of science and technology.

Energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer RFS RD

RFS RD (РФС РД) energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer with 241Am (photon energy 59,9 keV) radionuclide X-ray source is used, It was specially designed in X-RayLab for the qualitative and quantitative trace element (Z=56-60) analysis of uncrushed solid samples and crushed ones (powder samples, granulometric and mineralogical fractions, etc.). Widely used as an effective laboratory research instrument for rapid quantitative determination of the Ba, La, Ce, Pr, Nd content in large batches of powder samples (whole-rock/whole-ore analysis) in geochemical and environmental studies.

Detection limit of element analysis (DL): n-15 ppm.

Range of detectable concentrations: DL-100 wt%.

Analytical error: less than 10 rel% for concentrations above 10×DL level.

Fields of use: geology, mining industry, ore processing, metallurgy, various expertise (criminalistic, customs, etc.), environmental monitoring, archeology, chemistry, physics and other branches of science and technology.

Energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer MicroRFS

MicroRFS (МікроРФС) energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer uses microbeams of collimated monochromatic and combined X-ray radiation from two powerful X-ray tubes. This mini-XRF analyzer was specially developed in X-RayLab for rapid non-destructive qualitative and quantitative trace element analysis of simply prepared single microparticles (micrograins of accessory minerals, etc.) larger than 30-50 µm in size (whole-grain mini-XRF analysis).

Detection limit of element analysis (DL): n-100 ppm.

Range of detectable concentrations: DL-100 wt%.

Analytical error: less than 10-15 rel% for concentrations above 10×DL level.
